Foundayo® (orforglipron) is Eli Lilly’s new once-daily GLP-1 tablet that can be taken at any time of day, with or without food, and with no water restrictions. Because orforglipron is a small molecule rather than a peptide, it is absorbed reliably from the gut without any empty-stomach protocol. On 10 August 2026 the MHRA authorised it for weight management and type 2 diabetes — making the UK the first country in Europe to do so — and it is now available to eligible adults through Cuva Health.

Foundayo® is a weight-management treatment for adults living with obesity, or overweight with a weight-related health condition. It works with your body’s own appetite signals to reduce hunger and help you eat less.
By activating the GLP-1 pathway, it helps you feel full sooner, stay satisfied for longer and quieten persistent food cravings — the “food noise” that makes dieting so hard. It is designed to be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, under the supervision of a clinician.

Is Foundayo® right for you?
Under its UK licence, Foundayo is intended for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, prediabetes or obstructive sleep apnoea, used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. It is also licensed to improve glycaemic control in insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes.

Safety
Side effects & how they’re managed
As with other GLP-1 medicines, the most common side effects are gastrointestinal — nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, indigestion and abdominal pain. They are most noticeable when starting treatment or increasing the dose, and for most people they ease as the body adjusts.
The gradual monthly titration is specifically designed to keep these effects manageable, and practical steps — smaller, lower-fat meals, good hydration, not lying down straight after eating — help a great deal. More serious side effects, such as pancreatitis or gallbladder problems, are uncommon but possible, which is why ongoing clinical support matters. Seek prompt medical advice if you experience severe or persistent abdominal pain, ongoing vomiting, signs of dehydration or any reaction that worries you. Your suitability, other medicines and medical history are always reviewed by a prescriber before treatment begins.
Report a side effect. You can report any suspected side effect from any medicine directly to the MHRA Yellow Card scheme, which helps the regulator monitor medicines and keep them safe for everyone. As a newly authorised medicine, Foundayo will be under additional monitoring.

What is Foundayo?

Do I need to take Foundayo on an empty stomach?
